Time to create your own wiki!

 

 

 

Step 1

 

Think about a work-related project where using a wiki would make the task easier, more inclusive, etc. How will you use your wiki?

 

Need some ideas? Here's a link to several videos where educators discuss ways they use wikis.

 

Step 2

 

This video provides an overview of pbWiki features. Watch it more than once to pick up all the ideas mentioned here.

 

 

 

Click on this link to create your own wiki. Do not create a 2.0 wiki! (Susan will explain.)

 

 

Make the wiki public (so others can view it, but don't have editing rights).

 

Write down your wiki URL and password.

 

 

Step 3

 

Click on the appropriate link below to add your wiki to the workshop list.

Step 4

 

Work on your wiki. Try at least 3 of the following tasks:

 

  1. Personalize your Front page.
  2. Add a link to a new page in your SideBar.
  3. Add a link to a new page in text on a page.
  4. Add and format text.
  5. Insert a Plugin
  6. Insert an image (you will need to get an image to do this, check with Susan).
  7. Upload and attach a file (you will need to have a file to do this, check with Susan).
  8. Explore and change your wiki Settings.
